A UK travel startup wanted to build a super-app that eliminates the multi-tab planning chaos — where travellers juggle Skyscanner, Booking.com, Google Maps and WhatsApp group chats. They needed a single app to plan, book, share and experience a trip — with offline maps for remote destinations and real GDS flight/hotel inventory.
TravelMate was built in Flutter with a FastAPI backend. The AI itinerary planner generates day-by-day trip plans from a single prompt (e.g. '10 days in Japan, ¥200k budget, no hostels') using GPT-4 + curated POI data. Amadeus GDS API provides live flight and hotel inventory. Mapbox offline tiles allow map navigation without mobile data. Collaborative trip rooms let groups vote on activities and split expenses.
